To access:
From the Toolbox on the navigation panel, click Protect and then click DriveScrubber.
What it does:
DriveScrubber allows you to erase every byte of data from a drive you specify, including removable devices such as portable hard drives or flash drives. DriveScrubber also allows you to create a boot disk and erase all data from your system drive, including the OS itself.
Why use it:
Securely deleting all traces of data from your hard drive is a best practice in the process of disposing of a computer. Drive-wiping is also useful when repurposing a drive or in the process of repairing a corrupted one.
Click either Securely Wipe All Data from a Drive or Create bootable USB to wipe system drive, and follow the onscreen instructions.
Securely Wipe All Data from a Drive
This option will wipe all the contents of any drive that does not contain your operating system. Choose a drive from the dropdown menu, select from one of two wiping methods, and click the Wipe drive button.
The recommended wiping method is the default, and is compliant with the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Choosing the Custom wipe method option allows you to select the number of overwrites the wiping procedure will perform.
Create bootable USB to wipe system
This option requires you to insert a USB drive onto which your operating system will be saved. Once this boot disk is created, DriveScrubber can proceed to wipe the entire contents of your system drive, including your OS.
