To access:
From the Toolbox on the navigation panel, click Protect and then click System Shield.
What it does:
System Shield protects your computer from many different types of malware. It is automatically updated with new virus definitions to prevent the latest types of threats. System Shield can also scan your system for existing malware threats.
Why use it:
Viruses and other malicious programs can sometimes get past the antivirus protections provided with your operating system. System Shield uses advanced dual-engine AV protection to catch more types of threats.
Click on the type of scan you wish System Shield to perform, and follow the onscreen instructions.
The options available from within the Protect > System Shield menu are:
Scan the entire system for malware
Scan a specific folder for malware
Scan a specific file for malware
Configure System Shield settings
Clicking on this option opens the System Shield section of the System Mechanic Settings menu. Refer to the Settings section of this Help file to learn more about configuring System Shield’s settings.
Manage System Shield quarantine
Restore or permanently delete items from the quarantine by selecting a quarantined item to highlight it, and then clicking the down arrow to the right of the Select an action button to display a list of options.
Items in quarantine should be reviewed and purged frequently.
View System Shield history
This option displays a list of scans, thwarted threats and updates to System Shield for your review. Click the down arrow to the right of the blue button to change how far back you wish to view the history.
